6 car sales data is out. The first-half MPV sales summary shows the Sienna leading with 42015 units sold. Among domestic MPVs, the "Big Three" are the Wey Gaoshan (34227 units), Voyah Dreamer (31962 units), and Denza D9 (28226 units), ranking fourth, fifth, and seventh respectively. The people's MPV, Wuling Xingguang, ranked fifth; combining fuel, pure electric, and plug-in hybrid models, its total sales reached 35659 units, placing it second.

The top 10 also includes the Trumpchi M8 in sixth place with 29222 units sold, the Toyota Granvia with 18067 units, and the XPeng X9 with 13324 units. The Trumpchi M6 follows with 11522 units, ranking from 8 to 10.

The Luxeed V9 sold 6 units in 3818, ranking 8 for single-month sales in that period. There's still potential here.

After reviewing the rankings, let's briefly discuss some of the MPVs listed:

Sienna

The Sienna sold 42015 units in the first half of the year, making it the only MPV to surpass 4 thousand units—proof of its strong performance.

The 2027 model of the Sienna is now available. Compared to previous versions, it features significant upgrades: a standard 15.6-inch center touchscreen powered by the 8155P chip, the first-ever integration of Huawei HarmonyOS with AI voice large model support. Additional new features include a wireless charging pad, Huawei HiCar 5.0, and a rear seat bracket for Xiaomi tablets. Also, the 27 model no longer includes a spare tire; it has been replaced with a tire repair kit.

However, there are no changes to the powertrain. It still features a 0.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with an E-CVT continuously variable transmission in a hybrid system, available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

High Mountain

High Mountain series sales in 6 reached only 4920 units, down from 6707 units in 1. Although the High Mountain 7 SUV was launched recently, it appears to have had no impact on sales—perhaps it's too early. We'll reassess once the 7 figures are released.

The Gaoshan 7 SUV is definitely a great choice for family use. The upgraded Gaoshan 7 SUV features a 1 cm longer body, boosting cargo capacity, and an even more important upgrade: the chassis has been raised by 3 mm. Additionally, all trims come standard with Hi4 four-wheel-drive hybrid power, achieving 0-60 mph acceleration in just 5.7 seconds. With a 44.28 kWh battery, it offers 206 km of pure electric range for daily commuting and a total combined range of 1135 km on a full tank and charge. In short, it's packed with family-friendly features.

Zeekr 009

In 6, Zeekr 009 sold 2843 units—more than the combined total of the previous three months. This strong performance was primarily driven by the launch of the refreshed Zeekr 009.

The all-new Zeekr 009 cabin delivers a significantly upgraded experience compared to the previous model. The standout feature is the second-row seats, which can rotate up to 180 degrees, allowing passengers to face the third row directly. Every trim of the refreshed 009 now comes standard with Soft Nappa full-grain leather seats, offering a finer, softer touch and superior comfort. In zero-gravity mode, the massage function becomes even more practical; combined with lumbar support, it provides enhanced full-body support, maximizing comfort. Additionally, this model features the first-ever closed dual-chamber air suspension and double-valve CCD electromagnetic shock absorbers, greatly improving ride comfort.

Luxeed V9

The Luxeed V9 sold 3818 units in 6, ranking 8 for the month. For an MPV starting at 38.98, this is a solid performance.

To be honest, the Luxeed V9 is undeniably luxurious. In my view, however, it overdoes it—especially in the second-row captain's chairs of the Ultra+ top trim. While feature-wise it checks every box (zero-gravity mode, rotating seats, massage, graphene heating, and more), the first impression upon entering or when the sliding door opens feels off. It lacks that sense of luxury; instead, it feels like a home massage chair was forced into an MPV. It misses some of the restraint and composure expected of a premium MPV. Too many features actually work against the experience.

However, the Zhijie V9 truly excels in intelligence and safety, featuring Huawei ADS 2.0 + 896 LiDARs with top-tier hardware.

Based on the first-half MPV sales rankings, I must admit I'm slightly disappointed. Domestic MPVs still haven't overtaken their joint-venture counterparts; the Sienna and Buick GL8 remain two formidable hurdles. Chinese brands need to keep pushing!
